Although life here may seem so new, you can access important resources to help you feel at home in Northumberland County.

New Canadians Centre

The New Canadians Centre Peterborough or NCC helps anyone who is new to Canada. This includes permanent residents, refugees, new citizens, students, temporary workers and people seeking status.

When you come to the NCC for the first time, one of the staff will spend time getting to know you and explain the services and programs.

 NCC can also help you with translation and interpretation services.

Personalized Settlement Plan

To get your online personalized settlement plan use the Living in Canada Tool produced by Citizenship and Immigration Canada. The tool will ask you to answer several questions in order to determine what your needs are and what to do to address these needs.

Helping Immigrants Integrate and Succeed

Citizenship and Immigration Canada has developed a video called "Your First Two Weeks in Canada" to give newcomers useful practical advice and information that will help them as they start their new life in Canada. The  video explains the importance of obtaining a Social Insurance Number, contacting a local settlement organization and finding employment.
